How to Maximize the Citrus Juice from Lemons

While you keep your lemons in your refrigerator to maximize freshness, how the heck do you get the most juice from them? Lemons are wonderful citrus fruits to add to your dish for an extra kick of flavor, cocktails, dessert and marinade. By keeping it in the fridge (which you should) this makes it even harder to excrete all of the juice as much as possible. A simple trick you can do is nuke your lemons in your microwave for 15-20 seconds. Really, it works. Basically what you’re doing is breaking down the cells and membranes of your lemons so you are able to make the most out of your juicing experience. If you want to get fancy, after you’re finished microwaving, slice the lemons in half, lengthwise, to aid in squeezing out the juice (as pictured).
