Hang Your Metal Tools From a DIY Magnetic Bracket

If your work area/garage/shed (whatever that may be) is a mess, you probably aren’t using hidden storage space that is right before your eyes—the area underneath your cabinetry and shelving. If you’re lacking in the storage department, mounting a simple magnetic bracket under your shelf is perfect to hang your metal hand tools from. Contributor to MakeZine.com, blogger Jason Poel Smith of DIY Hacks and How-To[‘]s, shows you exactly how to make a magnetic tool hanger. It’s a matter of grabbing up a bar magnet, sheet metal, and a couple of screws. Snip off some sheet metal, trace out your magnet, make a grid, and remove the corner rectangles from the metal. From there, place your magnet on the fitted sheet metal, make some bends, curve out a couple tabs for mounting, and create holes for the screws to go into. Jason even shows you how to make a longer magnetic bracket—by either using multiple small brackets side-by-side, or by using a longer piece of sheet metal. It’s a handy way to keep organized, not to mention the convenience of installing one of these DIY brackets within an arm’s reach of your work area.
