If you enjoy preparing a meal with rice, then you understand how messy it can get to remove the starchy residue that covers the grain before cooking. To make life easier, you can use a French press to rinse rice in a few simple steps.
The process is quite simple and fun for kitchen lovers! All you need to do is to put the grain into a French Press, add some water, and make some simple circular movements. After a few seconds of swirling, pour out the cloudy water, and repeat the process until the water is clear. This is where the French Press shines. Use the plunger to “press” down your rice, and drain off the excess water. You can also use the French Press on grains like quinoa, brown rice, farro, and barley.
Using a French Press on grains is easy, hygienic, fast and goes a long way in eliminating excess starch. Additionally, the process is not as tedious as with other rinsing options, which some small grains slip through. Furthermore, removing the starch off the surface of rice such as basmati and jasmine will spare you the trouble of it getting sticky when cooked.
