Grease stains can seem impossible to remove. Whether you’re working on an appliance and wiped a big glob of grease on your uniform, dribbled some oily soup on your shirt, or accidentally smeared lipstick on the collar of your blouse, there’s something to be done with those impending grease stains of doom. There’s no need to use extra laundry detergent to pretreat your clothing, it’s time to raid your child’s sidewalk chalk box, and grab yourself some plain white chalk (really, you should use the good ole fashioned white chalk teachers use on chalkboards). Don’t be so quickly to dismiss a simple, yet “it really works” tip. Scrub white chalk directly onto the grease stains, and the chalk powder will lift up and absorb those pesky oil spots from the fabric. This simple pretreatment will help remove the stains during a normal washing machine cycle. It’s a good idea to have a box of white chalk handy in your laundry room, and while you’re at it, place a piece of it in your bag or purse. It’s always better to immediately attack the grease stains with your amazing chalk powers before the spots sets in.
