Make Ice Cream & Clean Your Garbage Disposal

If you can become efficient at doing two things at once…why not save yourself the hassle? Using your resources wisely is always a plus—especially in the kitchen. We’ve found an awesome way for you to make ice cream to your advantage that will take less than 5 minutes.

What is it? Ice Cream in a Bag! …and chances are, you already have the ingredients at home. So let’s look at what you need to do and enjoy your ice cream first, then we’ll discuss how this will benefit your garbage disposal.

Ingredients: 1 cup of almond milk 2 tbsp of sugar a pinch of salt a dash of vanilla extract toppings (add 1 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder for chocolate bliss) 1/2 cup of rock salt 1/2 a gallon size bag’s worth of ice 1 gallon size re-sealable bag 1 pint size re-sealable bag a small towel

What to do: Combine your almond milk, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, toppings, and/or cocoa powder into your small re-sealable bag. Make sure to press out the air and seal it up. Then, place your salt and ice into the large re-sealable bag; go ahead and add in your small bag. Press the air out of the large bag and seal it. Shake the bag for about 5 minutes until your ice cream becomes firm. Use a small towel to protect your hands from getting too cold. Once you have a thickened consistency, your ice cream is ready to eat. While you're at it, why not make a brownie in a mug to go along with it? Yum.

Here comes the garbage disposal part: Now, since you have some ice cubes and salt leftover, pour the contents from your large bag right into your garbage disposal; turn it on some along with some cool water. The salt and ice will clean the insides of your disposal, knocking off any food debris sticking on the blades. It goes without saying you could skip the ice cream part, and just stick with ice cubes and salt to clean your garbage disposal, but what fun would that be?
