Perhaps you’re in the workshop, making a washer and dryer pedestal or one of the many DIY projects we have discussed before, either way, how you mark your measurements can make a huge difference depending on how accurate you need to be. While every constructor knows this (even if you’re not a woodworker by trade), Instructables user Popular Mechanics gives a good reminder to hold your pencil at an angle against the ruler to get an accurate reading— as opposed to marking your measurement straight up and down.
