Give Your Old Dishwasher a New Makeover to Match Your Kitchen Cabinets

Whether your newly bought dishwasher is used, or you’ve had your miracle appliance for decades, it’s probably in the need of some serious TLC (tender loving care). From the nicks, scratches, dents and general wear and tear of your dishwasher’s front panel, it isn’t practical to buy new when it’s working just fine with a few minor cosmetic issues. While we’ve covered (pun intended) the topic of matching your refrigerator to look like it’s built in with your kitchen cabinets at a fraction of the cost, who’s to say you can’t have a matching dishwasher too? Carrie from DIY blog Save4Six.com shows you exactly how to give your dishwasher, what she likes to call it, a facelift. Depending on the setup of your dishwasher, you may need to measure out a couple of pieces of bead board for the front and bottom front panel. Though, depending on the style of your cabinets, go ahead and choose a material to your liking that will match better—plus stain or paint goes a long way if need be. Add some adhesive to the back of the bead board and to the dishwasher panel, press the board onto your dishwasher, and use a few strips of duct tape to hold it there should do the trick. Finally, seal it up the sides with some silicone and you’re good to go. Heck, if you even wanted to, you could paint your board up with stainless steel paint or chalkboard paint if you’re feeling a little spunky. The possibilities are endless. Plus, it’s a cost-efficient and easy DIY weekend project that can spruce up that dishwasher of yours. Hit the link below for the full tutorial and pictures of Carrie’s dishwasher transformation.
