Boost a Cup of Joe by Adding Flavor in a Coffeemaker with Spices from the Pantry

Ahhh – there’s nothing better than waking up in the morning to a hot cup of robust coffee in the morning to start your day. Whether you add cream, honey or some sugar in, a cup of coffee is the perfect pick-me-up in the wee hours of the morning. Well, if you’re looking to spruce things up in your handy dandy coffeemaker, you’re in luck without having to make a trip to your local coffee shop. MyFoodFridge.com shared a wonderful tip for a taste different from the norm, and you most likely have the ingredients already right in your kitchen pantry or refrigerator.

Before Brewing: Add your own flavors to Regular coffee grinds to give it a little twist. Orange peel, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ground up nuts, etc... can all be added. To make six cups add 1/4 teaspoon of whatever flavor you choose.

Your options are truly endless. After you scoop your fresh grounds into the filter, add in a flavor boost with your favorite spices. Why not add cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, allspice, nutmeg and ginger to start off a coffee chai base? Go ahead and take advantage of those leftover orange peels and put them to use; after you’re finished brewing, place your coffee grounds with the orange peels around your plants to stop your neighborhood kitties using your garden as a litter box. What more could you ask for? A delicious orange-infused coffee drink and repellant! This is your time to shine—creativity never tasted so good.
