Most people have been using the microwave for years for only few basic functions. Heating up last night’s dinner and making popcorn. However, there is a number of other very interesting ways you could be using the microwave to save time and improve results in the kitchen. Here are a few of our favorites.
Soften the Ice Cream
Most everyone out there has had a bowl of ice cream simply freeze up completely in your fridge or even at the store. If this is the case, putting the ice cream in your microwave and bursting it with short 5-10 second interval of heat will melt it to just the right point.
Steam Vegetables
Put the vegetables of your choice in a microwave bowl with a little water. Let the bowl spin a few minutes and your vegetables will get nicely steamed and be soft and tender.
Cook Corn on the Cob
One of the less popular but very easy ways to prepare corn on the cob is in a microwave. Put the corns on a microwave plate and cook for about 5 minutes on level 10. Remove the husks and enjoy your corn. Be careful not to burn your fingers when you take the corn out.
These are just some of the many ways you can use the microwave for various purposes and if you know some great ways, feel free to share them with us.
