Odors cling onto clothing like there’s no tomorrow. Whether it’s smoke from a smoldering bonfire, mildew from the garage towels or perspiration odors from your morning jog, smells seem to stick. A weak acid, white distilled vinegar is a great inexpensive and natural way to remove odors from your laundry. Not only does white distilled vinegar act as a fabric softener or a color preserver, but it gently sanitizes your clothing to be fresh and clean. Vinegar is a natural lint deterrent, allergen reducer and even helps to prevent the ‘yellowing’ of clothes. Just add in 1/2 cup to 1 cup of white distilled vinegar to the beginning of your washing machine cycle along with your laundry detergent; this will remove mildew, smoke and other tough odors. That’s it! No catches and no strings attached!
Don’t worry, you or your clothing won’t smell like vinegar. To get rid of perspiration odors and stains, spray distilled white vinegar onto those problem areas before tossing your laundry in the wash. Did you forget to put your laundry into your clothes dryer and it now has a sour smell? Vinegar has you covered! Run your washer through another complete cycle with 1/2 -1 cup of white vinegar and it will eradicate that mildew musky odor. It’s really simple (almost too simple) to get the countless benefits from vinegar—but, it works (and it’s a cheap, nontoxic remedy that keeps on giving)!
