If you have a dirty oven/range/stove, that’s a sure sign you’re using it! Which, kudos to you for cooking at home. Now, as routinely cleaning comes around, seeing those burnt black food bits inside of your oven is probably enough to make you cringe. You could use the self-cleaning oven feature, but this method takes a ton of energy—really more than what it is worth. You could also use an oven cleaner, but that’s a mess, contains harmful chemicals, and definitely is not natural.
Stephanie Rogers from Mother Nature Network (MNN) offers a fantastic way to clean those stubborn baked-on food crispies. Not only is the method natural, but it is a cheap alternative that works. It’s always a good idea to unplug your oven/range/stove from any electrical or gas connections. All you need is baking soda, a sponge, water in a spray bottle and vinegar for the more stubborn baked-on bits. Generously dust the baking soda on your problem areas, spray with water and let it sit overnight. Then, wipe it off the following day with a damp sponge. Also, if the spots are still stubborn, add more baking soda and vinegar to the burnt pieces. Allow this secondary solution to set for a half-hour and wipe away. In no time, you will have a clean oven minus the icky chemicals. How to clean an oven naturally via MNN Photo Credit: ArnoldReinhold via Wikimedia
