5 Numbers & Dimensions You’re Missing in Your Smart Phone

Your phone not only serves as a cool-app-entertain-me-for-hours-facebookin’-tweetin’-machine, but has some other practical uses especially when you’re out and about. Use your Notes (iOS) or ColorNote (Android) app to enter the following numbers and dimensions (Psst. Really do it! You’ll be thanking us later, plus it doesn’t take too long).

Note 1: Enter the model & serial number of your major appliances This includes your refrigerator, dishwasher, oven/range/stove, washer & dryer, furnace and anything else you want to include. Why? It never hurts. Let’s say you need to partake in a DIY repair, your model number would conveniently be available for you to enter into our model lookup. In addition, if you need to make a call to your local service company or purchase a part, you will have your model and serial number right at hand, saving you one extra step.

Note 2: Store your appliance’s warranty info New appliances usually come with a standard one year manufacturer warranty. It’s easy for receipts to get lost and shuffled amongst your millions of other important papers. Instead of wondering if your warranty is up, store your purchase date inside of your phone along with your model and serial number. That way, you can keep track and have no “if’s or but’s.” Also, it may be a wise idea to take a photo of your receipt in its entirety that is clear and easy to read, saving you one more step to organization. No more fretting allowed.

Note 3: Add your local repair service company’s number If you’re in a panic, don’t fluster yourself even more by hunting down a phone number. Add your trusted repair company into your contacts. You will even have your model/serial number and any potential warranty information readily available…if you took our advice from notes 1 & 2! In the case of an emergency that doesn’t allow you to partake in our growing library of DIY repairs, having a service company’s number on hand is beneficial.

Note 4: Type in the material & size of your air filter Is your furnace filter electrostatic, polyester or pleated? In fact, what is your air filter size? Depending on your home-environment and needs, your air filter needs to be changed as frequent as once a month to once every six months. Stop second-guessing your filter size and enter it into your phone right now.

Note 5: Take down room measurements That beautiful sectional would be perfect in your living room, but will it fit? Only you can answer that question. Using your handy dandy metal measuring tape, measure each of your rooms and enter your dimensions for each corresponding area. So when you see that brand new washer, you will know if you have the space for it or need to move onto something of a better fit.
