You never really think about the storage space above your refrigerator. It’s overlooked and the last place to be considered. Sure, most of us toss chip bags, bread, and snack bars right on top of our fridge, but it begins to look cluttered.
If you’re tight on space in the kitchen and want a little extra legroom, why not install some shelves right above your refrigerator? It’ll add more storage room and is practical so your kitchen doesn’t feel as stuffy.
Meg from Revamp HomeGoods added a couple of open shelves above her refrigerator, perfect for her cookbooks and barware. The process is relatively simple that can be handled for a small weekend project. Cut down some whiteboard or any wood of your choice into a couple lengths dependent upon your space; if you’re feeling fancy add some trim to those bad boys—Meg found using a nail gun made this process super quick. Finally, add a layer or two of paint of your liking, and mount your shelves to the wall with brackets. If you’re fortunate enough, there will be studs right where you need to mount your shelves—if not, there’s nothing a few anchors can’t handle. You’ll just want to make sure not to place anything up there too heavy.
Don’t you see? This is a free-card for your pantry food—no need to toss out the five-year-old canned pineapples, shelves just got on a whole other level. You’re welcome.
